How to Display a Menu of Websites On Your Kiosk

In order to make it easy to navigate between a series of websites on your kiosk we've added a menu feature to KioskSimple.

This is particularly useful if you're allowing users to navigate away from your website to 3rd party websites.

In the case of a 3rd party website you probably don't control their content and it will be difficult for users to find their way back to your website.

In this short article I'll show you just how simple we've made it to  create a menu of websites so your users can always find their way back home.

Creating a menu in KioskSimple is quick and easy and requires zero code.

Step 1: Enable the menu feature

In order to enable the menu feature we first need to set Enabled to ON.

By default the menu will be hidden unless the user clicks a menu button to show the menu.  You can change this behavior to always show the menu by setting Always Show to ON.

You can leave all of the other default values alone unless you want to customize the look and feel of your menu.

Step 2: Define your menu buttons

In this case I'm defining a button to navigate to the Bing search engine.  I do this by setting the Action Type to Navigate and the Action Parameter to the URL of the website www.bing.com

If I wanted to create a Home button that always sent the user to the first page in the workflow I would set the Action Type to Home.

Step 3: Save your settings

Once I've defined my menu buttons I can save my settings and close the KioskSimple configuration tool.

Step 4: Launch KioskSimple

Once you're done creating your menu you can launch KioskSimple and your new menu will appear.

In this case I've configured the menu to always show.
